The recommended practice is intended to establish uniformity of connection dimensions to permit interchangeability of one manufacturer's meters with another manufacturer's meters of the same size, provide a common ground of understanding of the terminology, use and component parts and accuracies of these meters, and to provide a reference for the safe working pressures of these meters.
