Simplified Design of Building Foundations
This book is intended for persons who wish to study the subject of building foundations without first pursuing rigorous training in structural engineering. Basic problems in foundation design are explained through text discussions and extensive illustrations. Subjects treated include basic soil mechanics, design of common foundation elements, and relations between planning of building and providing of adequate foundations. A minimal background of introductory applied mechanics (statics and strengths of materials) and the design of simple elements of masonry and reinforced concrete is assumed.
